DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Applications to the Dallas Police Department have soared after the attack over two weeks ago that took the lives of five officers.
According to the Dallas Police Department, the number of applications has increased by 344-percent since a gunman opened fire on officers killing four Dallas Police officers and one Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer.
Between June 8th and 20th there were 136 applications equaling about 11 per day. From July 8th through 20th there were 467 applications making it about 39 applications a day.
In a news conference shortly after the shootings, Dallas Police Chief David Brown told those wanting change to become an officer by telling the world, “We’re hiring.”
