SHERMAN (WBAP/KLIF News) – A former elementary school principal in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford School District has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor to have sex with him.
Oscar Figueroa, 47, worked at Viridian Elementary in Arlington. Before that, he was the principal at Hurst Hills Elementary School for two years.
Figueroa was taken into custody at Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco after officers said he was soliciting sex on Craigslist. “An undercover officer posing as a 16-year-old boy contacted Figueroa and began exchanging text messages. Figueroa instructed the undercover officer to meet him at a particular place within the AMC Theatres at Stonebriar Centre. Frisco PD Officers arrived at the theater and discovered Figueroa, who directed an undercover officer to a bathroom for sexual activity,” the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.
Figueroa was also fined more than $12,000.
