Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – Two people have been robbed while playing “Pokémon Go” along White Rock Lake. Dallas police say they were called for robberies on July 22 and this past Tuesday.
In both cases, police say there were called between 1 and 3 a.m. Police say each victim was robbed at gunpoint by three African American men.
The robbery calls follow other cases in the Metroplex. In Rowlett, police say a man impersonating an officer tried to convince a 14 year old who was playing Pokémon Go to get in his car.
Plano police say the game has led to an increase in “suspicious person” calls.
In Irving, police put out a video that warns people not to become distracted while playing. The video warns people not to play while driving or walk into traffic while playing.
The video encourages people to play with a group of friends to keep safe.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit police have warned people not to play the game on DART property, saying distracted players could be hit by a train or bus.
