DALLAS (AP) – A Dallas man who served two years in prison for the hit-and-run death of a landscape worker has, himself, been killed by a hit-and-run driver.
George Thomas Kohoutek (koh-HOO’-tehk) was hit by a car on July 20 while jogging in the Pleasant Grove district of southeastern Dallas. Kohoutek, who was 64, died a week later after his estranged brother decided to have him removed from life support. Andrew Lee Laymond, who’s 68, was arrested July 21 and charged with accident involving serious bodily injury. He’s free on $3,500 bond. Court records list no attorney for Laymond, who doesn’t have a working telephone number listed.
The Dallas Morning News reports Kohoutek served two years of a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter for Rafael Caracheo’s 1990 hit-and-run death.
