DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Dallas Police Association will hold a candlelight vigil to honor the officers killed last week.
“It’s going to take time to heal,” said President Ron Pinkston. “The healing process takes longer in law enforcement because we can’t just close down the shop. We have to keep on working. We have to keep on protecting and serving the citizens of Dallas, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Five police officers were killed when a gunman opened fire on them during a “Black Lives Matter” rally Thursday in downtown Dallas. Seven officers, two El Centro College officers and two civilians were injured in the attack.
The vigil will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday at Dallas City Hall. “We’ve had a tremendous outpouring of support since this tragedy. We’ve purchased over 10,000 candles for this service, and we’re hoping we will have at least 10,000 people,” said Pinkston.
