FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Fort Worth Police Department may try to reduce a department-mandated waiting period to qualify officers for training on AR-15 rifles.
The thought process comes after eight officers were shot and killed in Dallas and Baton Rouge, Louisana over the last two weeks.
Documents obtained by our media partner, WFAA-TV, show Fort Worth police seized and recovered about 40 assault rifles in 2015.
The possibility of getting rifles into the hands of officers quicker would help them feel less helpless in the event of another Dallas-level attack, according to police.
