DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – There are 8,700 loose dogs in southern Dallas, according to as report from a consultant hired to help the city get a handle on its problem.
The report said 85% of the stray dogs have not been spayed or neutered.
The total number of dog bites in Dallas jumped 33% between 2013 and 2015. Many of the cases were from dogs that had owners, but were running loose.
The consulting group based out of Boston is nine weeks into its study. It plans to deliver a final report with recommendations on how to increase public safety and animal welfare.
