LOCKHART, TX—The Federal Aviation Administration is reporting 16 people are believed dead after a hot air balloon accident near Lockhart, Texas.
According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, a 9-1-1 call came in just before 8 o’clock this morning and first responders at the scene reportedly found a portion of a hot air balloon that appears to have crashed after catching fire while in flight.
Officials say, the balloon was originally carrying 16 people and right now, it appears there are no survivors.
The FAA is investigating.
